Cuba & Other Considerations: The Art of Carlos Cárdenes and Esteban Blanco Exhibit

Saturday, March 22 at 12:00pm to 5:00pm

GOCA 121 (Downtown Gallery of Contemporary Art) 121 S. Tejon, Suite 100, Colorado Springs, CO 80903

Opening Reception | Friday, February 7, 5 - 9 pm | Artist Lectures | 5 pm

Exhibit Dates | Feb. 7 - March 22, 2014

Cuban-born artists Carlos Cardenes and Esteban Blanco are Miami and Colorado-based expatriates whose works in photography and bronze mine the depths of their diasporic experience.

Cardenes' series of photographs of Cuban artists  - 132 in total - survey this dynamic group and are as a whole incredibly moving. Blanco's bronze works are inspired by Italo Calvino's work of fiction The Invisible Cities and wrestle with our wish to idealize our home cities after we have long departed.

Snacks and drinks for the opening reception generously brought to you by NOSH, Bristol Brewing Company and Brewers Republic.
