Dr. Soto-Laveaga, Associate Professor of History at UC Santa Barbara, will lecture based on her book.  Her research centers on barasco the plant root that was transformed into the first viable oral contraceptive in the 1950s and 1960s.  She challenges us to reconsider who produces, owns, and benefits from science and scientific knowledge
